The rules for Irish people entering Portugal - and restrictions when you arrive

With Ireland opening back up, people are starting to feel more confident about returning to many of the things they did pre-Covid - including going on holidays abroad.

Portugal is one of the most popular foreign destinations for Irish people, with plenty of sun, gorgeous scenery and lots to do and see. Entering Portugal by air All travelers entering Portugal must present a negative PCR or antigen test, even if you are vaccinated.The PCR test must be taken within 72 hours of boarding, and the antigen test must be taken within 48 hours.

Entering Portgual by road or train If you're entering Portugal by road or train from an EU country deemed "low or moderate risk", you will need a Digital Covid cert proving vaccination, recent test or recovery from Covid.
