Speaking at a Government briefing in Dublin, he said: "We believe we need to do more to flatten the curve.He added that all restrictions that were announced in Washington DC are extended until Sunday 19 April.

Among the measures announced by Mr Varadkar are that all theatres, clubs, bingo halls and non-essential retail should close.
