But Anders Tegnell, the public face of Sweden's virus response, defended the decision not to impose the strict lockdowns seen in other countries.
Sweden has so far reported 38,589 confirmed cases and 4,468 deaths, a toll far greater than neighbouring countries and described by Dr Tegnell as "absolutely" too high."It would be good to know more precisely what you should shut down to better prevent a spread of the infection," he said. People have been urged to work from home, limit contacts, practise social distancing and wash hands frequently. Latest coronavirus stories
He actually said the exact opposite
RTÉ again picking the facts that suit them. “last week Sweden had the highest death rate per capita in the world” Yes, and Ireland’s is currently worse than the US. No mention of that particular statistic
Better headline.....
Go back to making pornos lads Swedishblue
HORSESHIT once again from RTE. Stop spreading misinformation to the public to justify a needless destructive lockdown. That is a criminal offence.
Sweden had just over 2,000 deaths outside nursing homes in a country of 9M people. They also didn't destroy their economy. There is still not a shred of real proof that the planet's reckless stay-at-home experiment made any difference
All the muppets out there getting pissed off with lockdown here saying Sweden are doing well without it. Over 2,000 cases and over 70 deaths today 👏🏻 👏🏻 Sweden 🤦🏻♀️
Misleading headline from RTÉ. Tegnell stands by his strategy. He has always regretted not doing more to protect care homes. Unlike Ireland...oh wait!
Can't compare COVID death stats across countries: Sweden don't count deaths where a patient was already terminal nor do they count deaths 'probably' related to COVID. We do. They've seen bigger spike in deaths in general but the lockdown will have a big impact incl health funding
Swedish Foreign Minister: 'The only way Swedish measures differ from the outside world is that we do not close preschools and schools for younger children and that we have no law that forces people to stay at home'
At least they admit it, can’t imagine the UK or the US doing the same, as there governments are so arrogant and can’t do any wrong.
Sweden has had over 50% of their deaths in care homes same as us....They did allow their domestic economy to remain open pubs restaurants hairdressers with no distance rule...Also primary schools...Now with a 2nd wave of virus unlikely immunity strategy not so successful..
Swedish women are a lot fitter!
They had less cases and deaths then us but as long as you make leo look good
