A man in his 40s has become the second person to die on Irish roads in the last two days.
Gardaí are investigating a single-vehicle collision in Kilkenny, where a man in his 40s died after his vehicle collided with a tree in the early hours of Saturday morning . Emergency services attended the incident, which occurred on the R705 between Goresbridge and Bagenalstown.The R705 is partially closed for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. Gardaí say that the road is expected to reopen this morning.
With regards to the crash, Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information, particularly any road users with camera footage who were travelling the R705 road between Goresbridge and Bagenalstown between 12am and 01am on Saturday, 22nd February 2020, to contact Thomastown Garda Station on 056 775 4150, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
Ireland has seen three major road collisions since yesterday evening. An 11-year-old boy was left in serious condition after he was struck by a car in Donegal, and a woman in her 70s was killed after she was hit by a car in Cork.
