Ryan Reynolds is a video game rebel in the first trailer for Free Guy | JOE.ie

Following the colossal success of Deadpool and its sequel, Ryan Reynolds likely has a blank cheque in Hollywood to do whatever he wants.Directed by Shawn Levy , Free Guy tells the story of, er, Guy - a seemingly ordinary bloke who happens to be a non-player character in a Grand Theft Auto-style open world video game.

Upon discovering this, Guy decides to become the ultimate action hero, allowing Reynolds to showcase his usual comedy chops along the way. Free Guy, which arrives on 3 July, 2020, co-stars the likes of Jodie Comer, Stranger Things' Joe Keery and Taika Waititi.
