Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said the airline would implement the measure once a coronavirus vaccine was made available to the public

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said the Australian flag carrier would implement the measure once a coronavirus vaccine was made available to the public.

Mr Joyce predicted the rule would likely become standard practice around the world as governments and airlines currently consider the introduction of electronic vaccination passports. Vaccination entry requirements are already widely used around the world, with many countries demanding travellers show they have been inoculated against yellow fever if they are coming from regions where the disease is endemic.

Meanwhile, Australia's Victoria state announced its last coronavirus patient had been cleared of Covid-19 - a major milestone for what had been the epicentre of the country's second wave. The world is still engulfed in the unprecedented health crisis which has shattered economies, infected almost 58.9 million people and left nearly 1.4 million dead.

"Every government rightly wants to do everything it can to protect its people," Dr Tedros said. "But there is now a real risk that the poorest and most vulnerable will be trampled in the stampede for vaccines."

Can't see what the big issue is - you already need vaccines in a lot of countries for Cholera, Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis,rabies,tick-borne encephalitis, tuberculosis (TB), yellow fever etc, Why should COVID be any different?

I won't be flying thanks! Not hope in hell, let them go bankrupt!

Why? If We washed our hands, wore masks, endured lockdowns there was hope of going back to normal..., now if we get vaccine..NO NORMAL EVER. MODERNA CMO TAL ZAKS trial results do not show that the vaccine prevents you from FROM INFECTING OTHERS.

Good move.

Very likely the Australian government won’t allow international visitors without a vaccine. Sounds like qantas are just preempting this

Listened to the chief executive of Ryanair this morning on Newstalk they will not be requiring mandatory testing! So that’s who I’ll be flying with!

Haha bellends they’ll be bankrupt soon enough.

Hey RTE, who is a conspiracy theorist now?

The future of airline travel, no vaccination, no flying !

They won't 'force' a vaccine on you directly, but indirectly this is how they will try! I see a big market for vaccine Fake IDs in future!

It won’t be Airlines paying out compensation to those that will get side effects from vaccines . No it will be the taxpayers paying that & paying to keep airports open & airlines in business.

Won't be flying with them anymore...by by qantos

Who wants to go to Australia anyway, it's either on fire or under water.

Won’t be flying with them then. 👎🏻👎🏻

Good. It will keep the fruit cakes of flights

What virus?

They won't 'force' a vaccine on you directly, but indirectly this is how they will try! I see a big market for vaccine Fake IDs in future!

Well done Mr Joyce, somebody with the balls to stick it to the Anti-Vac brigade

Months ago those who touched on BillGates, big pharma, maskage mandatory rushed vaccinations,, Covid exaggeration & stats falsification, leper treatment were called conspiracy theorists. Now you cannot travel unless you've a vaccine shot. SmellTheCoffee

NOOOOOO COVID COVID COVID WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE !!! let's not be adult about this and have a rational balanced debate on the negative impacts of lock-downs and isolation. can't have that from professional journalists - we just need to be kept living in fear.

Brilliant idea 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

Globalism in 3,2,1

I hope this brings this company to it's knees, how dare they and unlike Ryanair who're trying to get people home for Christmas. It's a flu with just under a 100% survival rate and a test that's 7%accurate and it's not fit for purpose according to the creator of it. Insanity.

is that even legal?
