The report seen by RTÉ News recommended Ratoath College scrap its iPad-only policy and return to printed textbooks as student distraction was the main issue associated with the lightweight tablet device. Ratoath College has reinstated its use of schoolbooks after it was found that teachers were concerned that students were “gaming, shopping and engaging in social media” during school hours.
What do you think – should other schools follow suit and scrap iPad-only polices in favour of textbooks?
So the only option is to scrap them. Take a step backwards?! Crazy!! Why not make the classes more engaging for the kids! Use an app to report on pupil usage during school hours and send an email to the parents. Plenty of options
Like everything in life every item has its time and it place.
what game do i have to play this time then
Well sure yeah, if you give kids some unlocked iPads they're going to go off an play games and look up the internet on it. I think anyone could have told you that. Give them a locked down tablet with just a reader on it or an e-ink device.
This is technophobia. I'm sure there are other ways to ensure students concentrate on schoolwork. It's ridiculous how many books even primary school children have to carry.
