School, the future, employment, climate change and Brexit are some of the top causes of stress for teenagers

Over half said that thinking about the future was their greatest cause of stress. School was one of the biggest worries, followed by employment, climate change and Brexit.

On the issue of relationships, a third of the teenagers said friends and peers had the biggest impact on young people's anxiety and mental health.Sixth class pupils from schools across the county attended workshops, plays and talks on promoting better physical and mentally well-being. The event was set up by Kinsale Youth Support Services, which is a volunteer-led community organization.

One of the organizers, Ger Rice, said the idea came about as a result of local research, which found that a growing number of children under the age of 12 were presenting with mental health issues.
