The judge jailed the 57-year-old father for 15 years after he was found guilty of all 31 offences against him. These included raping his three older children, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, wilful neglect and child cruelty. The children’s maternal uncle was jailed for 15 years. He was found guilty of eight of the nine charges against him in relation to two of the children, including rape, sexual assault and sexual exploitation.“The suffering they have endured has been enormous. The difficulties and stresses that they have been under have been enormous,” the judge said.

The statute book needs to be changed so judges can deliver longer sentences for crimes against children. Every one of these vile people should have got life. Also, why did it take years for these kids to come to the attention of social workers?

Far too lenient. Traumatic even reading the full article nevermind the children…and the foster parents trauma. Nauseating but important Ireland faces up to the fact this happened in a seemingly ‘prosperous’ civilised society

The sentences are truly appalling. They show very little sympathy with those children. The judge should be ashamed and the DPP should appeal.
Cannot understand such short sentences .. I scan only hope the reasoning for the 6 year difference was due to the perceived severity of the abuse. Would a child have to have died before they got “life”
Where is the equality in that sentence? They should both have gotten the exact same as parents and it should have been LIFE

Cork man jailed for seven years for rape of his sisterA 41-year-old Cork man has been jailed for seven years for raping his youngest sister over a three year period in the 1990s. Destroyed his sisters life. Gets 7 years. Will do 4. When he gets out, the Dole will give him money, he'll be housed for free. Free health care. And he's free to do whatever he wants. Ireland takes care of its Peado's. 7 years Well good on the victim for naming and shaming, I hope he is ostracised when he gets out. And how many will he actually do after 'good behaviour' is brought in. Inflicting 3 years of abuse and a lifetime of trauma and a 7 year slap in the face sentence is bloody ridiculous
