Scottish National Party MP John Nicolson showed that politicians are not immune from such difficulties after his virtual appearance at a Westminster committee was interrupted - by his cat, Rocco.
Mr Nicolson was taking part in a Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee meeting on the future of public service broadcasting when Rocco the cat made an impromptu appearance. He was asking TV bosses why subtitles were not put on kids' TV by default as it was proven to increase literacy, when an orange tail appeared on screen.
Despite initially trying to ignore it, to the amusement of his colleagues, the MP eventually batted it out of the way, saying: "Rocco, put your tail down."
