The show is marking 25 years of Lord of the Dance and Michael himself made a speech before the show kicked off.

As well as emotionally thanking fans, he also invited 22 future stars of the stage to perform a short dance number at the opening of the show.Speaking to the audience, Michael said: "The people of Ireland have been so supportive, always from the very beginning. The overwhelming support has been inexhaustible and it has carried me through some very tough times."It was confirmed that he was dealing with an “aggressive” form of cancer and that he had undergone surgery.

However, he gave an update on how he's doing as he walked the red carpet tonight, telling the press: “I’m feeling good, I’m feeling strong. They didn't give me much of a chance in 1996 but I'm still standing, I’m a fighter and I’m not giving up here and I will beat this.” A statement released last month said: “Dear friends, we have something personal to share, Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer."No further comments will be made at this time.After the initial statement, Michael also posted: “I am overwhelmed by your kindness.
