Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes Brendan Rodgers’ previous experience managing the Reds could affect his chances of being considered for the Manchester United job when Ralf Rangnick’s temporary spell ends.
While the former RB Leipzig manager could still take over the United reins permanently, the current arrangement will see the 63-year-old occupy the position until next summer - when a permanent manager will be selected. “Rodgers ticks so many boxes: he has extensive experience but is still young enough to have the hunger and drive to take United forward.”
Eight months after he was replaced by Jurgen Klopp, Rodgers moved further north to Scotland when he presided over a glorious period at Celtic. “Rodgers knows what it's like to handle the spotlight after managing Liverpool and Celtic,” Murphy added.
