Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in Dublin 12 in the early hours of Sunday.“Shortly before 1.30am, gardaí and units from Dublin Fire Brigade attended at the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Drimnagh Road, Dublin 12,” a Garda spokesman said.

“The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was treated at the scene for serious injuries. He is currently in Beaumont Hospital where his condition is understood to be serious. The driver and sole occupant of the car was not injured.” The road at the crash site was closed on Sunday morning to allow for a technical examination to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí from Sundrive Road station are investigating the incident and appealed to anyone who witnessed or has footage of the collision to come forward. Anyone with any information is asked to contact 666 6600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
