Man dies after accident on roadworks site in Kerry as road shut for hours by gardai

The man, aged in his 40s, died after an incident involving a vehicle shortly after 1pm on the Tarbet to Ballylongford road.

Emergency services immediately rushed to the accident and closed off the road with the man pronounced dead at the scene.The road remains closed this evening with diversions in place for locals. A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating the workplace death of a man that occurred at a roadwork's site on the R551 at Sallowgen between Tarbet and Ballylongford.

"A man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead following an incident involving a vehicle. The Health and Safety Authority have been notified.
