A former drug dealer and recovering cocaine addict has described how musician Damien Dempsey saved his life.
He said: “After a gig, Damien Dempsey told me, ‘I love your stuff’. Then, I hadn’t seen him for a couple of years. “I took mainly cocaine and ecstasy. There was a time I was doing a lot of cocaine – that’s where the Pablo name came from because it reminds me of the person I didn’t want to be.“My ma is doing quite well. I don’t speak with my father. The last I heard of him he was locked up in Mountjoy Prison.
“I carried a lot inside and I started writing music, which was a way for me to express myself and clear whatever was on my chest.” “And with that then comes a lot of stress and having no rent money to go home or not being able to provide for my kids.
