A graduate in computer science from north-eastern Pakistan, Ahmed says he was forced to leave his home because of his decision to move away from religion.

Ahmed was in his late 20s when he arrived in Ireland seeking asylum from his home in Pakistan.

He found under-the-table work with a pizza delivery service and worked through the early weeks of Covid to meet the high demand of people ordering food to their homes. “For me I was alone at that time anyway so the Covid isolation didn’t hit me much. I didn’t have any money so I had to work somewhere. But when you are working without papers you work long hours for very little money, it was a bad feeling.

Ahmed somehow avoided contracting the virus and started his exercise regime. Once he had secured permission to work, he found a job with a Cork takeaway but continued running and walking. Despite his initial concerns about Covid, Ahmed is complimentary of the centre where he lives. “This is a good centre, I have a room where I can sleep, I have shelter, that is the best thing. I know English, which has helped me to integrate better.

“It felt like a huge achievement when I used to be so big and even walking and sometimes breathing was difficult. It was like climbing Mount Everest for me.” Ahmed has also started a masters at University College Cork in Mathematical Modelling and Machine Learning after months of saving to cover the course’s non-EU student fees — asylum seeker students must spend a minimum of three years in Ireland to become eligible for the Student Support Scheme.

Another bleedin chancer

Even the 'refugee welcome'freak's don't think that these chancers are real refugees! If they admit one of them is fake the entire asylum industry might crumble, the truth is their deadly enemy!F,uck the Irish is their mantra!

Religion and politics is something that divides people and prevents us from uniting against the slave system in which we have been stuck for generations.

The best stories 'asylum seekers' come up with is the gay Muslim who has recently switched to Christianity. Whatever ticks the boxes. Cock and Bull stories as stated by a previous Minister for Justice.

Don't be ridiculous. It's a lot easier to claim asylum than have to mess about with work visas.

So he goes to Britain first and then sees us as an easy target.

I’m always fucking amazed how they think of Ireland as a place to come to anyone!

So he has lost interest in his religion for now!!

Could he not have left his home and moved to somewhere closer than Ireland? Like India? Nepal? Thailand? Japan?

Don’t care. Go home. Apply for work visa like everyone else.

What a load of bollix

Refugee my....

Concrete levy: Dáil to debate motion to scrap new measureThe Dáil will debate a motion this evening calling for the new concrete levy to be scrapped. It would be more in SF line to tell us where they hid the bodies up on county Monaghan. The carry on they're at now is just playing the families emotions one more time The levy that Eoin O Brien, Pearse Doherty asked for in the Dail less than a year ago , they have no shame This feels like a distraction tactic. It was put in so it could be scrapped.... 'look it could have been worse'.... what are we not seeing🤔
