Derry Girls' actors Saoirse Monica Jackson and Jamie-Lee O'Donnell form part of a Tourism Ireland marketing campaign to try to restore visitor numbers to pre-pandemic levels

New ads featuring actors Sharon Horgan from Bad Sisters, as well as Derry Girls' Saoirse Monica Jackson and Jamie-Lee O'Donnell form part of a marketing spend of €78m to try to restore visitor numbers to pre-pandemic levels.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, he said the levels of tourism in 2019 saw 11.3 milion visitors come to Ireland spending almost €6bn. He said that films and television has also helped to promote Ireland as a destination, with Star Wars and Game of Thrones. "And just with the Banshees [of Inisherin], for example, we had already been promoting that in our top four markets around the globe. Our video that we did with the producer and actors has actually been seen 10.6 million times.

What age are they? .....🤔😁

No room in hotels until the refugees are sent home.

Where will they stay?

They should start with the hospitality sector, their prices are extortion

Not long to get back the costs. Especially in Rip off Ireland.

Car hire again looks a big problem

I used to take 4-6 weekend breaks a year now just head to lanzerote for 2. 7 days breaks much better value

They can stick Irish tourism up their arse the only place is Spain

Pray tell where will the tourists stay ?

The greedy irish tourist industry hotels restaurants b and b pubs are ruining any chance of getting tourists to come back with the prices they charge they deserve all they get

Ehhh, the Irish can't even afford2holiday in IRE as the hotels are jammers with refugees & economic migrants & the supply issue has driven up pricing to unrealistic levels! So expecting anyone from outside of IRE to visit here is just ridiculous! riseupireland WiseUpIreland

A lot of hotels are housing migrants. How are we supposed to combat this?

Will they be greeting me if I come back?

its more the lack of accommodation and the lack of affordability that would be discouraging people from coming to ireland. 78m wouldve been better spent building some hotels not housing refugees, and investing into car rental business that wouldnt take the piss with pricing

And where will the tourists stay with our hotels full of moochers?

Hope we get to see the adverts here as well Personally I think they should branch out even further and rope in LiamNeeson Colmmeaney brendangleeson and colmfarrell to do adverts as well

How about using real culture instead and making it more affordable?

So many hotel spaces taken up with homeless and immigrants

But its so expensive! Hotels are ridiculous as are self catering options.

Where will the tourists stay, in newly constructed field tents?

What nonsense is this? You won’t restore visitor numbers until prices for hotels are more affordable! Same for activities, meals etc. it’s bad enough here with the weather but people are priced out of it. Hotels need to stop the freebies to nobodies & respect the customer

Not just hotel space but the algorithms that price rooms are affected as a result meaning that prices are held artificially high and deter many.

€78,000,000!!!! Are ye serious?

Don't we need hotel capacity restored to pre pandemic levels to accommodate tourists? Dont we need prices to come down to pre pandemic levels Will they be able to help with that too 🤔

Just don't ask her what age she is lol

Who ?

You can kiss tourism goodbye thanks to this government.

Well.. Their faces.. Not much inviting tbh

ewwwww

But the hotels are full of males fleeing climate change in Georgia and Algeria.

If you scum in the media think your going to get away with it then might want to think again. That’s what these fools thought .

How can you restore tourist numbers to pre-pandemic levels with 30% of beds occupied by asylum seekers/refugees?

Bad timing considering the CHRONIC HOTEL ROOM SHORTAGE especially in Dublin Loads of empty buildings across the city. A gargantuan vacant Debenhams on Henry Street. Yet affordable hotel rooms are hard to find since XXL hotels taken off the tourism market for direct provisioning

More dog friendly accommodation would be appreciated!

Why we have no hotels left for tourism If you manage to find an overpriced room you’ll be surrounded by fake refugees stabbing each other.. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN TO IRISH HOTELS THEY’RE NO LONGER SAFE!!!

The government has filled them with migrants in case they haven't realised

Need to fill all those empty Hotels Oh wait a minute 🫣😡

They must be trying to turn tourists away.

They better not ask her age
