A cold spell of weather is set to arrive

Parts of the country basked in temperatures of up to 27C earlier this week but a cold blast is expected to arrive.

A forecaster said: "Starting off dry and mostly sunny across the southern half of the country, however, a band of rain will sink down from the north with cool, wet and breezy weather extending countrywide into the afternoon and evening."Rain will turn to showers on Saturday night as drier weather sets in.Meanwhile, there will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers on Thursday.
