Michael McNamara raises the issue of funnelling patients from across the midwest into the ‘overcrowded’ University Hospital Limerick. He asks if there are plans to increase capacity in Ennis, Nenagh and St John’s in Limerick. | Read more:

The Health Service Executive is to start looking back 14 days in relation to new confirmed cases of Covid-19, as part of an enhanced surveillance process for contact tracing.

There are plans to have 1,000 swabbers and 780 contact tracers in place, as part of a plan to have up to 3,000 swab, test and contact tracing staff. In 20 of these cases, the patients had an underlying illness. The committee also heard that under the World Health Organization case definition, if a patient has a heart attack and is also found to have Covid-19, the case will be recorded as a Covid-19 death.

Mr Reid told the committee that the HSE is meeting all testing demand and that Ireland is one of a few countries that automatically tests close contacts of positive Covid-19 cases. He also pointed out that the profile of patients that has characterised the resurgence in the disease has been lower, but this will change unless community transmission is controlled.

Mr Reid said the HSE is aiming to restore services and bring back elective care as it can by running a dual system of trying to protect people against Covid-19 and raise other services to a level they need to be at. — RTÉ News September 29, 2020 Labour's Duncan Smith asked what the HSE is going to do about the rules on partners not being allowed into maternity hospitals. He said it is a "heartbreaking" time for some people who are not able to have their loved ones with them.

Fine Gael's Jennifer Carroll MacNeill says the testing and tracing has not been fast enough in respect of schools. | Read more: https://t.co/BxqnJTDmwh pic.twitter.com/YMGIyToOLj

MlMcNamaraTD Well done Michael McNamara thank you for speaking up!

You'd want to tell him about the TB testing regime across the country.

FergalBowers We've tried that for 60 years and it still hasn't worked

MlMcNamaraTD I don’t understand why MlMcNamaraTD isn’t demanding Ennis Hospital be enhanced to a full service hospital. As an elected “Independent” representative of Clare he has free reign to raise this matter instead of a wishywashy proposal that papers over the cracks.

FergalBowers pail reid whatt a spoofer

FACT Coronavirus Deaths Pass One Million Worldwide Over the past 10 months, the virus has taken more lives than H.I.V., malaria, influenza and cholera FACT

Does he propose testing on a much wider scale than we are already doing? We are struggling to test 90k samples per week and are now outsourcing testing to German (again)

😂😂😂😂😂 Mooo 🐄

Stop locking us up like cattle

Well Richard as it happens, I said just that to the cow sitting bedside on an unscreened flight from Dallas lately.

Why is it wrong not to agressively chase down the virus ?

You can’t herd humans into a crush and test them against their will. Cows tend not to hold protest rallies and hold tri-colours. However, both don’t read the Constitution

It’s a bit odd, if u have a reactor it’s destroyed. There tested only once a year & it’s s very different type of test.
