Dr Holohan's nomination is expected to be agreed by a large majority of councillors

Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan will be proposed for the Freedom of the City of Dublin this evening.

Newly-elected Lord Mayor Hazel Chu is to propose Dr Holohan for the honour at the City Council's monthly meeting and the nomination is expected to be agreed by a large majority of councillors. Dr Holohan would join a list of national and international figures such as Nelson Mandela, U2 and Bill Clinton while the last person to be honoured was former Dublin GAA football manager, Jim Gavin.
