'It's fair value for 44c a day': RTÉ boss to make direct appeal to politicians over TV licence reformsIn a statement to be delivered this morning, Forbes will once again criticise the 13% of households which are evading the licence fee. Online isn't terrestrial TV, a computer monitor isn't a television and people watching things online via phone , laptop etc. owe RTE nothing. Evading the licence fee.... by not having any equipment which can receive a TV signal and who therefore are not using the RF spectrum, the thing which is licenced for use by the TV licence (for money which RTE do not receive). Has the meaning of the word 'licence' changed? I don't watch rte so why should I pay for a service I don't use. Grossly overpaid mediocre on screen talent run by an incompetent management team. Scrap the licence fee and make it pay per view. If it can't operate within its own means then let it die
