Image: Shutterstock/Lolostock Image: Shutterstock/Lolostock HEALTH MINISTER SIMON Harris has said he doesn’t really like the phrase ‘cocooning’ but said the idea is to keep those aged 70 and over safe and well.

Cocooning is intended for use in situations where an extremely medically vulnerable person is living in their own home, with or without additional support or in long-term residential facilities. Harris told reporters today that cocooning means wrapping supports around those aged 70 and over to protect them in their home. While every person is being asked to stay at home except in very limited circumstances, those aged 70 are asked to stay at home “all of the time”, explained Harris. When asked about the those over 70, who are perhaps in jobs that are essential services, such as funeral directors, Harris said ideally those in the age group would be able to stay at home.

Cocooning means staying at home, but it also means that there must be supports there from the authorities to allow that to happen.

They are such hypocrites: Harris 'doesn't like' the word 'cocooning'; and Varadkar doesn't 'like' the word 'lockdown'. Give me a break!

I hope Simon is being asked for ID every day, everywhere he goes too. Only fair. 😑

Yesterday's Dáil vote to extend the emergency rent freeze and evictions ban from 3 months to 12 months was DEFEATED by FF FG and four independents. Who's side are they on?

Law of the land meaning constatution? Meaning the have no rights to stop and ask.

Yous tried to bring in a national ID card through the backdoor in the public service card, now Harris wants us to have an id with us,this is not part of Irish law,the Irish people will never accept this, fine gael never learn even after the last election

No prob haven't really gone out much in about a month keep up the good work... Had a bit of a heads up as my son lives and works between Hong Kong and Taiwan..

So much for safe distancing and no gatherings, there's been a house/street party in full vswing all evening in Galtymore Road Drimnagh. The Gardai stopped , looked for a minute and then left.....

Also it's not the law of the land

I wonder does he regret his 'I can't stop free movement' speech, considering he's had to stop free movement to control this.

They can ask all they want. I'm under no obligation to answer them. Contrary to what you're told.... you're NOT obliged to. Doesn't mean I won't respect the restrictions. However, I don't like being lied to and it inferred I must answer a Garda like a good little boy

Beats muesli.
