Labour leader Alan Kelly said that the public need some hope as Christmas draws closer, while retailers deserve a timeline as to when they can reopen

Members of the opposition have laid into the Government over its recent handling of the Covid-19 crisis.Meanwhile, rural independent TDs have hit out at the Government's 'ongoing contradictory', while People Before Profit claimed that NPHET's advice should have been taken two weeks ago.

He said: “We need a plan in place up until the end of November to give the hospitality and retail sector some hope so we can get back to Level Three in the last week of November, and potentially Level Two for Christmas week and into the first week of January, to allow people to have some form of Christmas where loved ones can come back home to their families."

The party had called for the restoration of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment , the eviction ban and the mortgage moratorium. “It appears one has lost confidence in the other and leaks critical information to the media without due regard to the impact this will have.Sinn Fein has also called for a ban on electricity and gas disconnections this winter, as the Cabinet finalises more restrictions which will likely lead to thousands more job losses.
