Couple Bonga and Dean Image: Conor McCrave Couple Bonga and Dean Image: Conor McCrave A GAY COUPLE who have been fostering two children for more than a decade have called on other members of the LGBT+ community to consider taking on a fostering role and help support some of the 6,000 children in State care in Ireland.
There are currently more than 6,000 children in this situation who rely on foster carers across the country to look after and support them. At present there are around 4,500 foster carers in Ireland, with the Child and Family Agency, Tusla actively trying to increase that number over the coming months.
“I’ve been asked what’s the most difficult part of parenting and it’s the parenting itself. Anything that would come up in regular type of family are the same difficulties that we would face as a fostering family.”
I bet they both have mothers who they love. Why deliberately deny children of a mother figure or a father figure?
