Thousands of people took to the streets yesterday afternoon.

Image: PA Image: PA GARDAÍ HAVE SAID they will be investigating all the circumstances surrounding the Black Lives Matter demonstration which took place in Dublin over the weekend over potential breaches of Covid-19 regulations.

Gardaí said that while organisers had tried to enforce social distancing guidelines, this was not adhered to. Other regulations, including straying more than 5km from a place of residence, may also have been breached, gardaí said. An Garda Síochána said it has no role “permitting or authorising protest marches or gatherings” and that “there is no permit/ authorisation required for such events”. But the statement said that it encourages organisations to get in touch with the police force to make sure any such event can pass off peacefully.Protesters marched from the Spire on O’Connell Street to the US Embassy in Ballsbridge, chanting: “Black lives matter” and “No justice, no peace.

I think this is the only liberal thing Gemma O’Doherty could somewhat get behind, any excuse to get out and break the social distancing guidelines lol

You mean their investigating a demonstration they give permission to host. I wonder what they're findings will be?😂

What's potential about it?

Can everyone and anyone who was down on one knee with a fist raised in the air outside the embassy for BlackLivesMatter take a few minutes out of their day to check out the works of brother Lorenzo Kom'boa Ervin. Cheers.

All the people protesting yesterday are scum bags and are fools for protesting about a foreign police force. What utter morons it’s say to see how these muppets could jump on any bandwagon even during a pandemic , they should be dealt with harshly

“Potential”? Really? Thousands gathering in the one area closely together is only “potential”?

Calm before the Surge!!!!!! Watch this space

A bit late now ffs.

‘Potential’ breaches

They report will be soon available in 2021 or soon after!

Gardaí WILL DO NUTIN! ( in my best Conor Mcgreggor accent)

Potential breaches ?

Anyone who broke lockdown is a disgrace

The Gardai were present but failed to stop it!

Arrest and fine every single one of those eejits

Holohan said 8 died today due to COVID19.. but he never ever mention where everyday deaths happens .. nursing homes I Guess .. so he will keep counting dying people in nursing homes until nursing home residents start dying on treadmills

Bit late

😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰

Ya, I'm sure something will come of this...lol.

Bit fucking late now christ almighty.

The gards are jealous all the US cops get to have the fun beating on the people.

Potential 😂😂😂😂😂 great police work

Really?

So the Gardaì have the names and addresses of everyone that protested yesterday? 🙄

No breaches, everyone there lives within 5km, nothing to see here garda

Oh but never condemned it yesterday. But now that Gardai are going to look into it, terrible journalism tbh

Potential? 😂😂😂

Or bing potential about it!!

potential 😳

Potential 😂😂😂

Leo just stumbles from 1 PR disaster to the next how long are FG going to row in behind such a blatantly incompetent leader? The anger is growing all the time.

Lockdown is over it's only a farce now.

SCENES TODAY AT PORTMARNOCK BEACH! Where’s the outrage about this? At least the Black Lives Matter march was a lot more important and needed than your trip to the beach! People will look for any way to tear down the BLM movement, especially now that we are in a pandemic!

Roberta86681937 What’s with the fucking “POTENTIAL “ ? 🤬

gardainfo and GardaTraffic Arrest hazechu and Costellop for their participation. As government representatives they must be held to a higher standard. Gatherings of over 4 people are banned by law. They were fully aware of this.

Yeah everyone stood to close together care closed.

Let's do it baby we know the law

They will yeah. Was there an other protest in dundalk today and a big one planned for the 6th Pbp sf and leo have all supported yesterday's protest Lock down is over

Isn’t it great we have something to blame the 2nd wave on though. Nothing to do with people crowding the beaches, queuing for woodies, endless house parties etc clearly will all have had no effect.

Ya right 😎

Close for virtue-signalling about the protest.

LeoVaradkar way of getting out of hot water , make it a garda matter so he can't comment . stinks

Potential 😂😂😂😂 should never have happened

Are they investigating water being reported to be wet too ? 🙄

& u track these people down by ?

Nah. Surely not. The photo is just misleading

Haha!...Sorry, thought I was reading a WhispersNewsLTD headline there for a moment.

Who are the organisers?

“So” on the 5.30 news we are told that social distancing is only a guideline not a regulation, so why did the Gardai harass the Debenhams workers?

Hmmm just from this picture I see them ALL IN BREACH. Case closed. Not let's speak to their managers!

€500 fine for all. €2500 for the organizers.

Bring in the big boys for this theres no obvious breach at all, 🤣🤣

They investigated the Four Courts and that was that.. there was no way they were going to stop the protest yesterday..there would have been riots..the got a shock with numbers.. so are doing it to stop the ones next week..simples...

not a chance in hell! Lip service for the shutdown sheep.

Potential breaches!!!We will send Inspector Clouseau in to investigate

'potential'🤣🤣🤣 you're joking right?
