Bank of Ireland's extra fees are part of a new charging structure, where 26 individual charges will be replaced with a fixed €6 monthly fee.
"The new monthly fee will be charged to personal customers for the first time on 31 December 2020. This will cover the month of December. With regards to the new flat-fee subscription model, it replaces the 26 individual charges that were previously made and allows for unlimited contactless payments and ATM use.
It also means that customers will pay the same flat fee regardless of how much they have in their account. The average quarterly fees paid by personal customers, who pay fees, are €18, which amounts to less than 20 cent per day or approximately €6 per month.
