Former Love Island host Caroline Flack 's final TV appearance before tragic death aged 40
Caroline Flack appeared on screens just two months ago, following her hosting duties on Love Island 2019 in the summer
Former Love Island host Caroline Flack last appeared on screens two months ago, appearing alongside Rylan Clark-Neal on Strictly Come Dancing spin-off It Takes Two in December 2019. It was confirmed on Saturday that Caroline had passed away aged 40. Tributes have poured in for the TV presenter. A lawyer for the Flack family confirmed that Caroline took her own life and was found in her east London flat on Saturday. The telly host had stepped down from her role on Love Island ahead of the winter series in January this year. Caroline was due to stand trial on March 4 after pleading not guilty to assault by beating following an early-morning altercation with her boyfriend Lewis Burton. Rumours of the star's death began to circulate on Twitter this afternoon, leaving fans devastated, with the news later confirmed. Viewers last saw Caroline on screen on December 10, when she appeared on the Strictly spin-off. In the episode, the former Strictly champion joined fellow winners Jill Halfpenny and Chris Hollins on the sofa to discuss what it takes to lift the Glitterball trophy. Caroline stunned Rylan by revealing that she was not asked to take part in the show - and that she actually rang up producers herself. Discussing her experience, she said: "It only feels like day. It's one of those things that when you’ve done it, it never leaves you. "You add this whole chapter to your life you never thought you’d have. I think I asked to do it as well. I asked them." Prior to this, she last appeared in a hosting role on Love Island: The Reunion in the summer. She spoke of the "amazing" dating series she had hosted over the summer, and for the past five series, coming to a close in August. Caroline spoke with winners Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea, as well as favourites Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard. She looked forward to the next series in South Africa, after a winter spin-off of the show was confirmed by the channel. Caroline did appear in the promo trailers for the January 2020 series before stepping down as host. ITV had released a statement after she was replaced by Laura Whitmore, with it seeming the original host could return later on. * Samaritans (116 123) operates a 24-hour service available every day of the year.
