Duffy's brave Instagram post about her days-long rape ordeal has struck a chord with thousands of supportive fans, after she broke her silence about stepping out of the limelight.
Duffy hasn't been photographed in public since June 2011, when she was snapped at the Marie Curie Hospice in London's Hampstead. In the nearly 10 years since, Duffy has kept a low profile, occasionally posting to her official Facebook page in response to global events. Even her music went quiet, with the singer explaining in her Instagram statement that she "did not want to show the world the sadness in my eyes".In September 2015, Duffy quietly released her first single in five years - Whole Lot Of Love, which became part of the soundtrack for Tom Hardy's film Legend.
"But I can tell you in the last decade, the thousands and thousands of days I committed to wanting to feel the sunshine in my heart again, the sun does now shine."
