Dessie Farrell dealt major blow as Michael Darragh MacAuley ruled out of league campaign

Dublin football boss Dessie Farrell has been dealt a severe blow with midfield powerhouse Michael Darragh Macauley ruled out until his side’s Leinster Championship opener against Westmeath on May 23.

The big Ballyboden St Enda’s clubman will miss Dublin’s three remaining Allianz League ties against Tyrone, Meath and Galway as well as any possible NFL final. Ballyboden boss Anthony Rainbow revealed: “Over the winter, Mick had been troubled by a wear-and-tear complaint in his groin area, and the week after the Kilcoo game , he underwent a procedure to clear up the trouble.

“At the moment, Mick is rehabbing, and we hope to have to him back around mid or late March so that he would be available for our first game in the championship against Clontarf which will take place on the weekend of April 16-18.”
