The Department of Health has confirmed three further coronavirus related deaths and 525 new cases. The number of Covid patients in hospital stands at 423 with 103 being treated in ICU

Today's cases involve 271 men and 254 women. 74% are under 45 years of age and the median age is 31 years old.

The average 7-day incidence rate per 100,000 for Northern Ireland is 63.7. The highest rate is Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon council on 74.9, the lowest is Fermanagh & Omagh on 36.8.The Health Service Executive CEO Paul Reid said vaccinations of those people considered high risk because of serious illness will start in the middle of this week.

Mr Reid also said there had been a "minor number" of Covid-19 cases reported in schools since some classes returned last week. The HSE is "really thrilled" that children are back in school and that the first week back has "gone quite well," he commented.The Bill providing for the mandatory quarantine of people entering the State from certain areas to prevent the spread of Covid-19 has been signed into law.
