A multi-agency meeting has taken place in Galway to discuss public health concerns after hundreds of students congregated in the city last night.
Footage shared widely on social media shows hundreds of people congregating in and around the Spanish Arch, Shop Street and the Claddagh. All present committed to redouble their efforts to reinforce guidelines aimed at stopping the spread of Covid- 19, with sanctions in place for third-level students found to be in breach of guidelines. It's not just the Covid issue here ( all be it the most important one ) but it's the total disregard for local people and their property, plus the state they leave the place in. These are the eco green generation ? Like this in Galway for far too long now. Respect please.

I was in Galway last night and it was busier than a typical day at the Arts festival or Race week.
They were outside. There's no major risk here. BLM 281 In USA where they took place, crowded beaches, Liverpool trophy lift celebrations. None have caused a spike in cases
