Negotiations to form a new government may drag on, but election posters are on borrowed time and must come down this weekend or candidates will face fines

With negotiations under way to form the government of the 33rd Dáil, attention has moved away from last Saturday's general election.

The PosterFree campaign started last year around the local elections, with 160 towns and villages taking part. The erection - and removal - of election posters is covered by legislation that dictates when they can be put up, where they can be put up and also when they come down. Some candidates in the 2020 election jumped the gun and had their posters up before Taoiseach Leo Varadkar had even formally announced he was seeking the dissolution of the Dáil - including Mr Varadkar himself!

RTE_PrimeTime shoukd follow it up to see if anyone gets fined and if they do get fined do they ever pay. They don't pay their Dail bar bills why would they pay a fine?

Why are RTE journalists acting more like cheerleaders for Sinn Fein rather than asking them hard questions? Here's one they could ask. Does Mary Loo think that prospective coalition partners were attracted or repelled by shouts of Up the RA! and Tiocfaidh ar La by SF morons?

Glad I don't live on that street. Unbelievable amount of posters

Why can't they just advertise online like everyone else

It’s a stalemate SF don’t have the numbers of a left wing coalition, and FF/FG won’t be able to convince enough parties to join them in coalition either 🤦‍♂️🗳🇮🇪 another GE2020 anyone?

Won't be long before they're back up 👍

And the cable-ties!

How about FG+SF+SocDem+Greens FG - Taoiseach +foreign affairs, EU, Finance (Ire 2040 prog) SF - Tánaiste +Housing (O’Broin) + other societal issues SocDem -Health Min Róisín S. (SlláinteCare) Greens -Env + Sustainable Living (new dept) Comments on this? 90 TDs &5 year’s gov

Did the RIC commemoration controversy impact on Election 2020?Many Fine Gael supporters felt queasy about commemorating forces against independence No there was resentment for far too long about them charlatans sneering at the public or anyone who was in any way critical of them. Is that really a picture of RIC recruits? They look more like Auxies or Tans with their mish-mash of uniforms and equipment. It was the greatest cause of the collapse of the FG vote and the very vast majority of FG voters were extremely annoyed that the commemoration was suggested. Ironically many of the Sun reading disciples of the shinner cult are descendants of red coats and black n tans
