The mother of twins, Hassan and Hussein Benhaffaf, who were born conjoined has said the family is going to make the most of the 10th anniversary of surgery to separate the boys despite Covid-19 restrictions in place.Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, she said that they have balloons and baked a cake last night when the twins were asleep, adding that the most important thing is that the whole family is together.
Ms Benhaffaf said that as a mum she worries about the twins at this time because they would normally visit Great Ormond Street in London for treatment a few times a year, and she does not know when London will get back to normal.Ms Benhaffaf said that last week one of Hassan's old wounds unexpectedly opened up and they had been due to travel to Dublin by bumbulance but that has had to be re-scheduled.
She said she was nervous to go into a hospital in case "we don't come back out", so she has been dressing the wound herself, which has thankfully got better.
