Dublin great Barney Rock reckons the GAA will be forced to scrap the Championships if they can’t begin them before the end of July. But even GAA Head of Games Administration Feargal McGill admitted that’s fanciful given the COVID-19 emergency, saying it’s ‘unlikely we’ll be back playing’ by then.
The father of current Dublin star Dean told Irish Sunday MirrorSport: “If things really go bad and they really run out of time and we get to the end of July, then the GAA will probably just put up their hands and say, ‘OK everybody, there’s no All-Irelands this year, it’s back to the clubs’.“I would think late July would be a date you’d have to be looking at. I just don’t see anything else happening if this moves on into August.
The football competition required just five rounds to complete and was played over seven weekends in April and May.
