Asian man, 22, describes 'new face of Ireland' since coronavirus outbreak as he suffers racial slurs and abuse

An Asian man who has been living in Ireland for over two years now has described the racial abuse he has received since the coronavirus began.

Aaron, who did not want to reveal further details about himself, is actually from Malaysia but says he is subject to racial slurs with "ignorant" people presuming he is from China where Covid-19 began. "The scariest one was this one guy. I usually take a shortcut through an alley. All of a sudden I hear angry screaming behind me, I thought he was talking on his phone. Turns out, he was following me through this alley. I did not turn my head back once, only when he said 'kurva China' did I realise there was a racist rant against me."I am worried about stuff like this happening to me or my friends, but life goes on.

The college student said however that these few people have not tainted his view of Ireland which he described as "magical".
