Funding of €55 million has been approved for 164 harbour and pier projects around the coast

The funding, administered by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, comes from the EU's Brexit Adjustment Reserve fund.Projects will receive 95% of costs, with the other 5% coming from the relevant local authority."This funding will support local authorities to rejuvenate Ireland's coastal and marine infrastructure specifically to address the economic consequences of Brexit arising from the implications to the Irish fishing industry.

"Again, I must acknowledge the co-operation and engagement between local authorities, coastal communities and political representatives to make this happen," he said. Approved projects vary from minor repair and improvement works on piers to major works at harbours including Kilmore Quay, Greencastle, Dún Laoghaire and Wicklow.
