Interview with Acting CMO Dr Ronan Glynn following NPHET’s recommendation of restrictions on the number of people who can gather in households |

The Department of Health has confirmed 442 new cases of Covid-19 bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Ireland to 36,597.

This rule currently applies in Dublin and Donegal, which are on Level 3 restrictions, but up until now six people from three households could visit another home in other counties, which are on Level 2. He was responding to quotes from Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, who had questioned if Ireland is using the right criteria to make far-reaching decisions around restrictions and economic lockdowns.

Currently there are just two counties, Dublin and Donegal, on Level 3 of the Government's Living with Covid plan with all other areas on Level 2. Public health officials have flagged concerns about Cork, Galway, Roscommon and Monaghan, where cases have increased.

Why are tables allowed to be so close together in cafes ? Are there any inspections ?

Reopen the restaurants and pubs you clowns, they were never the reason for the increase!

The daily announcement of new cases will NEVER be accurate. You will have people who are positive but have'nt gone for a test but are just isolating at home. There WILL BE UNAWARE NEW ASYMPTOMATIC people walking around Ireland everyday, so reporting cases is pointless!

The 4 didn’t die BECAUSE of covid. Stop the lies. Stop the fear. Stop the propoganda.

170 out of a population of 1.4 million how many are actually sick? Hospitalised? And I mean actually covid admissions not a positive result and the patient is asymptotic?

Restrictions like these DON'T work!

Just say no to them. This has got to stop. Please read the Tanaiste's own comments. We cannot any longer shut society down based solely on infection rates alone.

Yes as if people will listen to this bollocks

Excellent presentation. Clear and understandable.

Yes master, whatever you say master..

I believe we should go full lockdown for a month and then open everything after that

The headcases are slow to respond today. Must have had a can too many.

Where are all these test being conducted. It's all bullshite

FFS DUBLIN !!!!

So let’s hope Leo sticks to not cases just hospitals and ICU and see what they like and do restrictions with them numbers in mind not just cases

So absolutely everybody who has never wore masks also never got tested and never got sick. What could all of these related facts possibly mean? 🤔

Oh who cares, you would have a pain in your hoop listening to the same tripe every evening, would ye ever change the record.

shut down the schools

Have to agree with the Belgian system..ICU and hospitalization seems a good metric for decision making.

Day24 schools should be closed

Stable. No plan. No direction. No clue. Sky high, and rising predictably. But at least the figures are stable. Shambles

Restrictions are doing a tremendous job. Open the country ffs
