Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh’s sexual harassment case against RTÉ is set to commence at the Work Place Relations Commission (WRC) tomorrow, Wednesday June 29.

It is understood the Nationwide presenter has lodged a complaint under the Employment Equality Act against the State broadcaster.

She is set to give evidence at the public hearing this week but the alleged perpetrators will not be named.

A preliminary hearing took place back in May.

It is understood a barrister for RTE said the station was denying the allegations at a preliminary hearing of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).

She did not attend the hearing last month, but was legally represented by a barrister and solicitors. RTE lawyers were at the hearing to defend the station.

It’s believed there was an internal RTE investigation in which three individuals were named, one of them a ‘public figure’, according to an Irish Times report.

At a preliminary hearing in May, Mairéad McKenna BL, who appeared for the broadcaster, said: “We absolutely deny all allegations against RTÉ.

“My position would be that if it was to continue in public that a direction be given not to name the [alleged] perpetrators. What we’re really seeking is anonymity with respect to the [alleged] perpetrators.”

Bláthnaid, who lives in Dublin with her family, has yet to speak publicly about her claims.

RTÉ have also remained silent on the hearing.

However, it was confirmed early in the summer that she would continue with her role on Nationwide.
