Amy Winehouse like you’ve never seen her before
With her powerful voice, often compared to that of Ella Fitzgerald, her Sixties-inspired look and her wild personality, Amy Winehouse has become an icon for all generations. In an ode to her promising beginnings, the exhibition “Amy,” created by Charles Moriarty – the first photographer to have immortalized the singer in print – will open in May 11 in Dublin.

In an ode to her promising beginnings, the exhibition “Amy,” created by Charles Moriarty – the first photographer to have immortalized the singer in print – will open in May 11 in Dublin. Amy Winehouse passed away at her home in Camden, London on July 23, 2011. Seven years later, her melancholic and jazz-influenced songs still resonate as strongly as the memory of her beehive hair and signature cat-eye flicks. After publishing Before Frank in 2017, a collection of photos of a young, then-unknown Amy, Charles Moriarty is back with a photography exhibition which opens on May 11 at Dublin’s CHQ Building. He photographed the singer, then aged 19, to promote her first album, Frank, in homage to Frank Sinatra. In total, 25 never-before-seen snapshots from New York and London in 2003 will be on show. Charles Moriarty has expressed that “after 15 years, now is the time for people to know the girl I knew: Amy before fame, Amy before Frank.” As good things come in pairs, the book Back to Black signed by Moriarty will also be available from October, with a series of interviews with Amy’s loved ones, including her mother Janis Winehouse, as well as fifty or so exclusive photos. A must-see for all Amy Winehouse fans.
