Winner of the LVMH prize in 2017, Marine Serre has rapidly made a name for herself in the fashion world for her futuristic creations and her “fashion-reality” “I use fashion to talk about what's happening in the world rather than as a means of escape” she said at her Fall/Winter 2020-2021 show.

In recent weeks, the young French designer has enjoyed a peak in searches, to the point of a 426% increase in 48 hours. The reason? Her crescent moon logo has been worn by a multitude of celebrities, starting with Beyoncé in her movie Black Is King, released on 31 July. In the feature film which aims to shed light on the Black Lives Matter movement, the queen of pop and her dancers wear skin-tight outfits printed with this celestial motif. An uncontested fan of Beyoncé, the singer Adele paid homage by photographing herself in a top also designed by the creator. From there, Internet searches for the print have not stopped increasing, according to the figures of the global platform Lyst.

What's the story behind Marine Serre's crescent moon logo?

I thought this symbol was the most open," Marine Serre declared in an interview with British Vogue. “You see the logo everywhere: a moon on a vintage garment [on jewelry] at Claire's, in [the Japanese manga series] Sailor Moon, and, of course, in Arabic countries. In this ultra-logo period, I told myself, I don't want a logo with my name, I want something with more meaning. The moon is the symbol of women, so I didn't think it could be any better!”
