Inside the Chaumet Place Vendôme private mansion and its tiara room

Having been the setting for the Chaumet jewelry house since 1907, the private mansion at 12 Place Vendôme has been given a makeover and will reopen its doors to the public on February 29. A true architectural masterpiece, the location houses many intimate lounges, as well as a fine jewelry workshop, a salon entirely dedicated to tiaras and other incredible treasures. Take the Vogue tour.

The mansion at 12 Place Vendôme was designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, a great French architect who at the same time was designing the Palace of Versailles. Some of its salons were once home to Chopin, the Russian embassy and the future wife of Napoleon III and are now classified as historical monuments. To celebrate the 240th anniversary of the Chaumet jewelry house, 12 Place Vendôme has got a new look with some new decor while retaining its exceptional classic attributes.

Between tradition and modernity, the place emphasized its historical aspects: from the murals and moldings to the parquet floors in Point de Hongrie, and has a very contemporary atmosphere thanks to its designer furniture, delicate decoration and enhanced colors. It is a prestigious private mansion, just like the Chaumet house, and is perfect for presenting the most beautiful jewelry collections in its various incredible rooms. Because the place is not just a store, it brings together all aspects of the Chaumet house, from inspiration and design to sales.

Among the incredible rooms of the private mansion at 12 Place Vendôme is the high jewelry workshop, the beating heart of the Chaumet house where the most beautiful creations are born in the hand of jewelry craftsmen, setters and polishers under the aegis of Benoît Verhulle, the 13th head of the workshop since the foundation of the house. Finally, there is one room in particular that stands out: the tiara room. A room where hundreds of nickel silver tiaras are displayed on a blue background (the emblematic color of Chaumet). A true fairy tale.

And to celebrate the reopening of this incredible maison at 12 Place Vendôme, Chaumet has not held anything back and has created a high jewelry collection for the occasion entitled Trésors d’ailleurs (Incidental Treasures). A selection of eight rings inspired by the roofs of the world, with different stones on certain models, such as the Shéhérazade ring with its oriental allure of the Qianlong model with its Chinese inspiration. These real treasures from Chaumet entirely dedicated to architecture are the perfect way to celebrate the renovation of the iconic 12 Place Vendôme.
