The Musée des Arts décoratifs is dedicating an exhibition to this everyday accessory which has a lot to teach us about the evolution of morals.

More than 500 shoes on display

This fall, the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris continues its exploration of the relationship between the body and fashion with an exhibition devoted to shoes, walking and parading on a catwalk. Through more than 500 shoes, paintings, photographs, art objects, films and adverts, from both French and international public and private collections, the exhibition looks at the relationship between shoes and morals, from the shoes of the nobility of the Middle Ages to recent creations by Iris Van Herpen, exploring, in a new way, what their different forms and styles tell us about the evolution of different worlds and cultures.
