Living in a condo building with shared facilities and tight spaces amid the COVID-19 pandemic presents its own set of challenges. CTVNews.ca takes a look at some tips that can help you navigate condo living during the COVID-19 pandemic.

TORONTO -- Living in a condo or apartment building with shared facilities and tight spaces amid the COVID-19 pandemic presents its own set of challenges.

“If you touch the elevator buttons and rub your eyes or touch your mouth or nose, then you could get it that way. So hand hygiene is key,” he said. last week sharing tips on elevator etiquette based on Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. If the elevator is really crowded, don’t get in, said Paul. But if you’re already in the elevator and people get on, “the best thing to do is to create a barrier from any droplets that could be in the air.” She recommends using a scarf to cover your mouth.

Whidden said he feels safe in his building where they’ve ramped up cleaning of elevator buttons and other commonly touched surfaces. Additionally, McNally said that it’s “been agreed in the industry that unit access, unless there’s an emergency, shouldn't be done in this environment.”

What Asia countries doing are government imposed disinfecting ALL condo hallway/elevator EVERYDAY

unfortunately high rise condos will depreciate rapidly because self isolation in these buildings with so many shared common areas is not really possible.. not idealistic in a pandemic.

Hate to break it to y’all:

I hate to say it ...but high rise condos may take reduction in resale prices due to the fact that people living like this can't truly be isolated.. new awareness that people can share viruses, germs, bacteria, pests too easily.

yes.. very close contact.. elevators and halls.. how can one really be isolated in a high rise building not really..

The virus circulating in the centralized air vent. What was the logic again to smoke 9m away from a building?🙄 COVID19

Let's see Condos? Cruise ships? Condos? Cruise ships? Thinking here! Um.....don't know.

Same risk living in a 20 story apartment building. elevators are small .

It’s so goddamn expensive to live in the condos in my people can’t go to work so how are they supposed to pay

What does trudeau say , with his ankle monitor on ?

How can there be risk when most of them lay empty because of foreign money?

Super bad.

What do you think?

Bedbugs!

Still at risk if someone breaks in or if my parents go out

Luckily I live in a house lol

we need housearrest now or we will die

Between insurance and this pandemic condos are not even going to be worth the materials they are made of, it’s a dam shame for all of us that have worked so hard. Nobody gonna be buying nothing after this

Condos need direction from TOPublicHealth Mine does not have hand sanitizer inside door, at security desk or near elevators but bans everyone from common elements. Claims to get advice from experts MTCC 972 fail

Them 🏢😷 Me 🏡😝

None.

lol 😂 plugged kitchen sink caused by the neighbors putting stuff down their drain. And management refusing to fix it “Not an essential need” they claim. Can’t come because of virus... etc ... Yeah right !!!

Don’t take the elevator, if you’re able and I hope your building has appropriate fresh air ventilation fans for each fan to lower risk in the hallways.

Is Property Mgt and Board responsibility’s to inform condo residents of any resident under quarantine and to actions being taken to sanitize all common areas? We just received notice of a resident who tested positive but no one knows who and if they might have come in contact.

If droplets are small ( aerosolized) then air in the elevator may be contaminated with virus up to half an hour.

forced vaccinations to start, martial law, Unchecked Government power, do I need to say more.

The media is pushing not to wear masks but in this article suggests to create a barrier with a scarf to cover your face. If you have masks people wear them out in public. They can't help you sitting in a box at home

The curse of real estate values and the greed of developers and government tax revenues. I often imagine all condo towers as block long two or three story townhouses, where children can play in small yards.

BogochIsaac curious as to why you think people are more likely to catch the virus from contaminated surfaces than via droplets? Is it because it remains infectious longer on surfaces than in the air?

Condos over priced glass boxes. With recycled air

Same thing in the ship... some condos use center air system... that’s high risk...

... you mean, other than its value plummeting?

In Wuhan people were afraid of going on their balconies because droplets remain viable up to 3 hours in air.

Air is circulated in these condos. In some of the units (like mine), air flows from hallways into the unit. I assume if someone is coughing and hacking in the hallway the virus will come straight into my apartment. Ugh..

The same risk as everywhere else...stupid people wo common sense and respect to otherd...

Living like sardines

Accidentally getting to know your weird neighbours?

Uh oh

Very High to death.
