WestJet Pulling Service from Deer Lake Airport

The Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority says WestJet has informed them that it is pulling service from Deer Lake Airport. In a post to Facebook yesterday, the airport authority says while it is disappointed, it is staying in touch with the airline in the hopes that it will return.

Westjet is pulling out of eastern Canada and Air Canada is pulling out of western Canada.

and this is news...slow day...they are pulling from major airports like Halifax...duh!

In Jan, we tried to book a trip to NL with Westjet for summer. Advised Westjet no longer flies to NL in summer. These decisions will impact NL tourism industry. It's expensive to fly to NL to begin with and this makes it even harder for travellers to choose it as a destination.

When WestJet was bought by private co they are horrible to deal with. We use to love them, they are the worst now.

It all comes down to inflation. People have less to spend on leisure and business isn't operating where it's going to lose. Mass layoffs are next in this country as it's inevitable with the cost of everything going up and less being bought by consumers

I guess WestJet is not what everyone thought it was. Seems like they are pulling out of NL altogether. I flew to Nova Scotia a while back with Westjet and the plane was less than half full. I came back on Air Canada with a full load. Maybe more people are choosing Air Canada.

Hmm, and I have a $700 credit that needs to be used by August! 😡

Heard they will cease operating in Newfoundland and Atlantic Canada. Mabe only hearsay,but maybe media could get some answers from WestJet

Cancelled all flights from Halifax to Europe as well. They don't want to be on the east coast.
