Back on home ice, the Washington Capitals are looking to start another points streak when they play host to the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.
Beyond the end of the seven-game points streak, Washington’s penalty killers allowed a Kraken power-play goal, snapping the penalty-kill unit’s perfect 18-for-18 mark over the Capitals’ previous eight games. The victory ended a four-game winless drought for the Canadiens, and was another example of the all-or-nothing nature of Montreal’s season. The Habs have outscored opponents 23-6 in their five wins, but have been outscored by a whopping 64-21 margin over their other 15 games.
Montreal goaltender Jake Allen has missed the past four games because of a concussion, but skated with the team on Monday and may be poised for a return. Sam Montembeault will get the start if Ducharme opts to hold Allen back for another day.
