Not bringing vaccine clinics to school is a “lost opportunity,” critics argue; putting clinics in schools might ostracize kids, Alberta MLA says.

EDMONTON — While Ontario moves to launch COVID-19 vaccine clinics in schools to combat the pandemic, Alberta’s United Conservative government is facing criticism for refusing to do so. It says such a move could cause some students to feel ostracized.

Turton said he’d had a recent conversation with Health Minister, Jason Copping, and Education Minister, Adriana LaGrange, which indicated the government had no plans to set up such clinics. It could create “social issues and trauma amongst various children,” said Turton, who added that, in the government’s view, it has created “plenty and ample opportunities” for kids to get the jab if their parents wish.

Saxinger said children can be aware of political controversies, but that schools could easily develop balanced communication strategies to mitigate that. During an interview with the Star on Thursday, Turton said that, in his riding, people haven’t told him they can’t get vaccines for their kids. Alberta Health says that about 42 per cent of kids aged five to 11 have received one dose and around 5 per cent have had two. The provinceNewfoundland and Labrador, meanwhile, has seen rates of vaccination among kids aged five to 11 soar. About 75 per cent of those kids have received one dose, due in part to a robust pediatric vaccination rollout which included school clinics.

I've got news for this gutless twat - our kids are already talking to each other and know which of their friends got vaccinated. Covid isn't some secret that adults have kept from them like Santa being made up.

Why is the % so low. Are people that stupid not to protect their kids?

We have ALWAYS run vaccine clinics at school for Grades 7 and 8. Nobody is focused on who is and isn't getting a vaccine.

Only if their parents are hard core Liberals 🙄

MSM : research Searle Turton's elementary schoolyard trauma to complete the story.

Or they might be able to get the medical care they’re entitled to, without their parents politics coming into it.

Lunacy.

Watching your classmates put seatbelts on when they get into a car might stigmatize them as weak and fearful.

That's the point.
