It has a permanent Canada Border Services Office and is certified for cruise ship operations. Yarmouth is one of only three ports in Nova Scotia with this designation. Like most ports, MacKenzie says it can sometimes be a challenge to find adequate transportation for tours. Weather or other events can also impact a cruise visit.
“It can also take a long time to get a cruise line to add a port to their itinerary. It can take years to build out this market, but other ports in Nova Scotia have done it and I believe we can too,” he notes.
