Cummings, Boris Johnson’s closest adviser, refused to resign on Monday, saying he had done nothing wrong by driving 250 miles to northern England when Britain was under a strict lockdown to prevent the spread of the coronavirus

In this file photo taken on Nov. 7, 2019, Boris Johnson, centre, is greeted by Douglas Ross, Conservative party candidate for Moray, as he arrives for an election campaign visit to Diageo's Roseisle Distillery, near Elgin, Scotland.Douglas Ross, a junior minister in the Scotland Office, resigned from the British government on Tuesday over the handling of accusations that the prime minister’s senior adviser had broken the coronavirus lockdown by travelling for help with child care.

Johnson’s defence of Cummings, who worked with the now prime minister on the campaign to leave the European Union, has stirred anger in his Conservative Party, with several lawmakers calling over the weekend for the aide to quit.Ross said in a letter he accepted Cummings’s statement when he “clarified the actions he took in what he felt were the best interests of his family” but he added: “However, these were decisions many others felt were not available to them.

A Downing Street spokesman said: “The prime minister would like to thank Douglas Ross for his service to government and regrets his decision to stand down as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Scotland.” A divisive figure, Cummings is seen by allies and enemies alike as Johnson’s most important and influential strategist.

U.K. leader Johnson stands by aide over 400-kilometre lockdown tripPrime Minister Boris Johnson said Sunday he wouldn't fire his chief aide for allegedly violating the national coronavirus lockdown rules that he helped to create. Country set to boo the PrimeMinister this week. He has sided with an unelected, entitled, arrogant flouter of the UK's lockdown. This has moved from a political 'bubble' story to something that has genuinely outraged the wider public. BorisJohnson is genuinely in trouble now. So telling how Canadian PROPAGANDA Media has to be critical of other nations because it isn't allowed in Canada. PATHETIC, Baghdad Bob had more integrity. All these media people should be fired and criminally prosecuted for not following social distance and intentionally putting the life of the aide and others in danger.
