Torontonians should brace for snow on Friday morning, according to Environment Canada’s forecast.
The weather agency says it expects rain and drizzle changing to snow and rain Thursday evening, yielding two to four centimetres of snow. On Friday, the forecast is two centimetres of snow, with flurries ending in the morning, then cloudy skies with forty per cent chance of flurries in the afternoon.
The City of Toronto says up to seven centimetres of snow may accumulate by Friday evening. In preparation, it said it will engage salting operations. The City will also open three warming centres on Friday at 7 p.m. They will be available by walk in at the following locations: Scarborough Civic Centre at 150 Borough Drive, Metro Hall at 55 John Street, Mitchell Field Community Centre at 89 Church Avenue.
The low on Thursday evening will be -2 C, wind chill -9 C overnight. On Friday, the temperature will remain near -3 C with wind chill -11 C. In the evening, the temperature will drop to -9 C, wind chill -10 C.
