Toronto senior robbed while waiting hours in emergency room
An Ontario senior had to defend herself in the emergency room of a Toronto hospital Wednesday after she was nearly robbed by another patient.
Levington said they'd waited approximately two hours when he stepped away to make a work call.“I'm thinking like, ‘She's not on a New York subway – I've left her sitting in the waiting room of a major hospital in Toronto,’” he said in a phone interview.
But in his absence, Levington said a stranger approached his mother, reached into the purse on her lap, and stole her wallet.“My mother was in the waiting room alone and a woman came and grabbed my mother’s wallet from her purse that was sitting on her lap,” he said. “People around her were yelling and screaming to get help.”

World class 🇨🇦 🤩 And where is Ford hiding when this happened? Been absent for an entire week at the legislature only to show up for a free meal and drinks event last night. Toronto is a zoo, thanks Trudy, your imports are really contributing to society All of HUMANITY has been robbed.....but we are taking back our FREEDOM

Nothing new... this has been going on for years. Thieves wait for the perfect 'distraction' opportunity to steal ipads, phones, purses and wallet. Must be a BLM I bet any money it was a hunter! Good thing the liberals are cracking down on them! another one of those 'nearly' stories... fordnation Downtown ERs are scary these days…. Had to go to Mount Sinai the other evening. They had 4 security guards, some tough nurses, the police were routinely making drop offs. And it was all needed.
first our health care was shit, then there was staff storage and longer wait hours and now we have to deal with getting robbed while waiting? LOL the conservatives doing everything to make us want to go to private health care so they can sell us to their big medical companies This is disgusting! brutal head line .. should have been .. grandma gets the better of a thief in a local hospital waiting room
Lmao if your buying this cnn type propaganda I feel sorry for you.
Ontario NDP call on Toronto mayor to withdraw request for more powersOntario’s official opposition is urging Toronto’s mayor to withdraw his request for new powers that would allow certain bylaws to pass with just a third of council’s support. Can we also ask him to resign from Rogers as well? The fact he’s still collecting a $100k salary is pure conflict of interest, and probably horribly corrupt and criminal. Josh Matlow is a trurp. Last I checked, all Toronto voters had an opportunity to vote for mayor. How many voted for feckless Matlow?
People are desperate and are hitting new lows. Was the thug wearing a mask Lol People are desperate Have you seen the type of individuals that frequent the ER? Not surprising in the least.. I was there a few months ago and some dude was trying to size me up and steal my jacket, asking me how much I weigh and what size it is and all that. In front of the cops..
There is no place in the GTHA where you are safe. Crime is rampant 24/7. Hmmm Welcome to Canada under Trudeau. no security or police presence in hospitals? That billion dollar police budget would be more effective in healthcare and reducing poverty.
Ontario NDP call on Toronto mayor to withdraw request for more strong mayor powersOntario’s official opposition is urging Toronto’s mayor to withdraw his request for new powers that would allow certain bylaws to pass with just a third of council’s support. Seems unlikely There's an Ontario NDP? The NDP? Aren't they a distant minority in Ontario?
Tanks Dougie! Guess your security guards are just observers. Whats the point then? 🤷♂️ It doesn’t makes any sense , some details in the news isn’t clear Let's face it, all leftist-run cities are violent hellholes. They do not believe in policing or following the law but instead turn perpetrators into victims.
Some people are just disgusting. Yes, Virginia, hospitals are dangerous places - when it comes to theft. That's insane! I'm glad the woman is ok, and got her wallet back. That could have been a very ugly situation, though. Toronto? If she was a responsible gun owner she could have sorted that out. SylviaJonesMPP this is the state of our healthcare system and you’re too busy promoting small liquor stores & cleaning companies.
Toronto city council appointments see newcomers on committee - Toronto | Globalnews.caIn an email to city councillors, Mayor John Tory outlined his focus on placing people in city government positions where he felt they could best contribute to his agenda.
Sick as shit man. What the hell os going on on TO. was she robbed or nearly robbed ... more like felt she might be robbed... I think cp24 has ran it's course... Wth! Probably the senior’s fault. According to Trudeau criminals are victims too and don’t need to be punished. Guesses? This the thief? SylviaJonesMPP is robbing resources from public health to divert to fordnation's chosen private health facilities. This known swindler is actively engaged in plundering the province. Beware!
That’s absolutely aweful this is what society has become wowpeoplesuck If he were to try that on me if I was waiting in the ER, I'd grab the nearest sharp instrument and shank his ass. Good thing he's in a hospital though. 2 robberies took place 1 her wallet was stolen 2 her dignaty for waiting so long on a healthcare system that told her when she was younger it would be there for her when she needed it. fordnation JustinTrudeau PierrePoilievre
This is an example of how low can people go and the current situation of where this country is headed. Will see more as recession kicks in.

One of Trudeau's finest? Maybe if we had tougher penalties for crime...this wouldn't happen. But woke people and activists say arresting criminals is racist somehow. Doesn't sound like the scum that tried to rob the old lady got charged. Maybe we need to get tougher on crime. This liberal catch and release policy for criminals obviously isn't working.
Disturbing Well masks will fix that right up 🙄🤡 ghetTO This ridiculous, in a hospital? Where are we safe from thugs? Good god! What the hell is wrong with people! What 'emergency' room? None that make patients wait 'hours' should be something you call 'emergency'.
Trudeau's Canada is devolving so fast. pat_health pat you got robbed of telling the truth Welcome to Ford’s Onterrible Unbelievable! Such a liberal news feed. All this went on and was caused by liberal who were in power for 15 years. They wouldn’t be reporting all these if they still were let me guess, because no mask mandate?
Looking great new Canada Wow, this is a new low. Sickening. Let me guess, this could have been prevented by masking and boosters?
Toronto resident Avi Levington told CTV News Toronto he took his 68-year-old mother to Toronto General Hospital on Elizabeth Street at around 9:30 a.Video | Watch Breaking News and Live Coverage | CTV News Toronto CTV Toronto.trains .The powers have been laid out in provincial legislation known as Bill 39, or the “ Better Municipal Governance Act ,” which expands on the strong mayor powers that have already been given to the mayors of Toronto and Ottawa.
m., as she was experiencing significant hip pain.. Levington said they'd waited approximately two hours when he stepped away to make a work call. A handful of such proposals are already in the works to capitalize on the Yonge North Subway Extension project, and now, they're beginning to appear for the upcoming Ontario Line as well. “I'm thinking like, ‘She's not on a New York subway – I've left her sitting in the waiting room of a major hospital in Toronto,’” he said in a phone interview. But in his absence, Levington said a stranger approached his mother, reached into the purse on her lap, and stole her wallet. In a public letter addressed to Tory and released late Wednesday night, the New Democratic Party called the legislation an “egregious assault on the democratic rights of the people of Toronto.
“My mother was in the waiting room alone and a woman came and grabbed my mother’s wallet from her purse that was sitting on her lap,” he said.27 hectares, immediately north of the current rail corridor and future station, would be built out with new housing supported by approximately 7,810 square metres of public space, retail, a grocery store and other amenities. “People around her were yelling and screaming to get help.” Levington says, despite his mother’s ailments, she was able to follow and confront the culprit, who went into a corner and begun to empty the contents of the wallet.  “My mom, besides being a transplant patient, has very advanced scoliosis, so walking is obviously extremely difficult for her. 9, from 6:30 p. She’s able to walk but with tremendous difficulty, but she was able to get up and swipe her wallet back,” he said.” The NDP then called on the mayor to publicly withdraw his support for the bill.
Staff hadn't responded at this point, according to Levington, and instead, fellow patients jumped into action to help the woman back into her wheelchair. He said that, upon his return, a minute or two after the interaction, he noticed a lack of a security guard, which he thought was “extremely odd.m.” “You would think that there would be [a security guard] there and there wasn't – just someone sitting behind the glass wall, where they can only hear if you talk through one of those microphone devices,” he said. After about five minutes, Levington said a security guard appeared and escorted the woman who tried to grab his mother's wallet out of the waiting area. When reached for comment, the University Health Network, which oversees Toronto General Hospital, told CTV News Toronto its emergency departments are, “of necessity, open to anyone ." But like everything Doug Ford gets his fingers in, there is always going to be opposition.

He says he doesn’t want to share his story as “another person throwing rocks at the system,” but that he hopes meaningful change will be sparked within healthcare. “Let's just figure out a way to run these places more efficiently and more safely. That's all.” Share: .
